Teaching

As an educator, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, spanning from 10-year-olds to individuals of the age of 75. Recently, I have assumed a role as an adjunct clarinet professor at Queens College and have become part of the faculty at the Third Street Music School. In this capacity, I collaborate with some of New York City's most talented middle and high school clarinet students.

In addition to private instruction, I am a staunch advocate for music education for all. I have actively collaborated with organizations, including Midori and Friends, Harmony Program, and Education Through Music, to introduce music education programs into public schools throughout New York City. My instructional repertoire encompasses various formats, ranging from intimate clarinet sectionals to conducting a 30-piece ensemble, and facilitating master classes or coaching sessions. In the context of private lessons, my pedagogical approach centers around key concepts such as sound production, technique, practice habits, and musical interpretation across a spectrum of genres. Irrespective of age or musical proficiency, my overarching objective for each student is to cultivate a profound curiosity for learning and to instill a passion for the disciplined work ethic necessary to master a woodwind instrument.

Educational outreach performance made in collaboration with my wife, Jackie and the Lyric Chamber Music Society of NY.
